Alex Prud’homme has been a journalist and author for
twenty-five years. He has written on a wide range of subjects for
The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and
Time, among other publications. He has authored five
books, most notably as co-writer of Julia Child’s memoir, My
Life in France, which was a #1 New York
Times best-seller and inspired half the film Julie &
Julia. His book The Ripple Effect: the Fate of
Freshwater in the Twenty-First Century, was published in
2011, and inspired Participant Media’s 2012 documentary film
Last Call at the Oasis. His latest work,
Hydrofracking: What Everyone Needs to Know, was
published by Oxford University Press in November 2013.
Currently, Prud’homme is at work on a book about Julia Child
in the 1970s, with the working title The French Chef in
America, to be published by Knopf in the spring of 2016.
He is also producing a book of Paul Child’s photographs, to be
published by Thames & Hudson in the Fall of 2016.
